In eight years, this group has attained recognition internationally, nationally, state and city-wide, putting San Antonio on the map for excellence in youth Tae Kwon Do. In 2003, the TKD Team participated in 8 different tournaments throughout Texas and a National Tournament in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The majority of these students come from low-income families with limited financial resources for these types of opportunities. For most of these children, these tournaments are the first time they have ever left the San Antonio area. For most, it is the first time they have traveled out of the state.

At this time, we have 11 black belts on the team. One of the team highlights for 2004 season is that three team members qualified and competed for a spot on the United States AAU National Team. Although none of them were selected, they gained valuable experience and are already training to try out again this next year.
