FINANCIAL CAPACITY BUILDING FOR FAMILIES
With a mission of supporting family and individual self-sufficiency, it is very important to assist people in managing the resources they have coming into their households. Families wanting to repair, improve or enhance their family’s financial stability and security are matched one on one with a Financial Capacity Builder. The FCB meets with the family several times per month. They assist the family in creating a budget to best meet the needs and financial goals of the families. They provide access to resources for each family, based on the needs and goals. Those resources might include credit counseling, credit repair, first time home buyer classes, job search assistance, inquiry into further education and any other identified resource. Families participating in the FCB Initiative meet monthly to provide encourage and support to each other as well as to celebrate each other’s successes and accomplishments. Presa's Financial Literacy Program is two-fold, including free income tax preparation every tax season with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program and a series of free classes addressing topics such as:
