PARENT EMPOWERMENT/ENGAGEMENT

Presa has three staff members working at five schools(Riverside Park Academy, Herff ElementarySchool, Green Elementary, Smith Elementary, Page Middle School) within our neighborhood community who are working closely with parent empowerment/leadership development with the parents in those schools. Each school has a team of Parent Representatives who reach out to other parents and work closely with the school faculty and administration to create a school environment where parents-teachers-school administration are working in true partnership for the success of their children. The parent teams make visits to home of other parents to invite them to be engaged as well as to understand what barriers have prevented their involvement. The parent teams also work to provide educational opportunities for the families to learn about college preparation, preparing to take the TAKS test, assisting children with test anxiety. They also host family gatherings at the school as well as hosting meetings for parents to meet with the principal monthly.
