- Understanding your credit score,
- Understanding the fine print and details in credit card offers.
- Applying for loans,
- The difference between banks and credit unions,
- Investing for your future,
- Identity Theft Prevention.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers an opportunity for families and individuals earning less than $38,000 per year to have their income tax returns prepared free of charge in a confidential setting, by trained volunteers who have registered to prepare returns with the Presa Community Center. This program is dedicated to providing working families with all of the tax credits they are entitled to, such as the Earned-Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit. Returns are filed electronically with the Internal Revenue Service, ensuring a very short processing time and a quick refund for those filers who are due a refund. The VITA Program helps stem predatory lending in our community by making the process as efficient as possible, and not offering Rapid Refunds at incredibly high interest rates, as found in many rapid tax preparation sites that open in our community around tax filing time.
Participants are encouraged to take advantage of a whole range of services designed to improve their personal financial management skills.
Partners in the Center's Financial Literacy Program include Bank of America, Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union, Wells Fargo, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the Coalition for Family Self Sufficiency, and the Internal Revenue Service.
